I have a short sleeve shirt that I need to alter on the sleeve, picture attached. Where should I let it out at
A friend gave me this shirt and I really like it, but it fits tight around my biceps when I lift up my arms to shoulder level. The rest of the shirt fits great, its just at the bands around the sleeve I have trouble. I have pretty muscular shoulders and arms and have this trouble with a lot of my clothes, I am a metalsmith and do a lot of hammering which makes the size of my arms vary quite a bit. I don’t want to remove the bands on the sleeves because they are cute, but thought I might be able to cut them on the area under my arms so it won’t show. Any suggestions or ideas on how to fix it so it won’t look weird? Thanks!
Here’s a picture of the shirt:

The professor’s got it right.
Well, I dont really know how to help you but, maybe you should just try on bigger sizes. You never know! They could be much more flattering and look even cuter!! Try it!
By the way- its a very stylish and cute shirt!! <3
Perhaps you could make it into a cap sleeve where it covers the top part of your arm, and you could still reattach the bottom bands. It looks like the sleeves are somewhat fuller a little higher up.
The band is probably stitched together at the seam under the arm. Take out the stitching so that there is a break in the band. Then cut a triangular section out or each end of the band and refinish the seam. That will give you a v-shaped notch on the inside edge of the sleeve and should give you enough room to be comfortable. It’s just like the V in the tail of a shirt that you wear untucked. Good luck. It shouldn’t be hard.
remove the band at the bottom and replace it with a piping of the same colour
