Is it a bad idea to wear a sport coat with a short sleeve shirt?
This is for a casual look. Maybe jeans or khakis, a short sleeve shirt (untucked, but it’s button down and has a collar). Is it inappropriate to wear a sport coat with this? Thanks!

it should look perfectly casual… i dont recommend closing the coat though… keep it open in the front.. atleast 3/4th should be open… it looks cool…. with jeans especially… i wear it all the time… i like short sleev as I can take off the coat whenever i wish… if you have a sleeveless one under.. you should be very much caring about your underarms too..

if your pants are long pants then it would be a good outfit…the buttons may look a little funny tho…if there short pants then the sports coat wouldnt look good…and wearing a short sleeve shirt under it is fine no one is going to c the shirt anyway expet when u take off the jacket and when u take off the jackt no one will c the longsleeves on there so i wud wear it
That sounds OK for dressed down casual. I wouldn’t wear the jacket closed: the shirt hanging down beyond the waist button with buttons of its own might look awkward. Be sure the shirt is meant to be worn untucked. If it has tails, tuck it. If the bottom of the shirt is flat, leave it untucked.
Yes, men do it for "business casual" all of the time.
Blazers with shorts? Very preppy school boy, but check yourself in a full length mirror to make sure that the proportions of your silhouette look right.

When wearing a jacket go with the long sleeve, nothing looks worse than bare wrists jutting out of a sports coat while wearing a button down shirt. Leave the short sleeve shirts for the non-jacket attire events. Oh, and leave the jacket undone.

it sounds fine, but if we had a picture to see it might be better….
no actually its attractive when a guy wears a sports jacket. it shows that they have athletic ability and are in good shape. oh its not inappropriate either. should look fine
